Specifications
The enterprise architecture is a high-level specification of the operations and management of the Digital Preservation Services, providing a clear and comprehensive view of the Digital Preservation Services.
The Digital Preservation Services (DPS) maintain three central technical specifications. These have been produced, and are updated annually, in cooperation with the partner organizations of the DPS:
- File Formats
- Metadata Requirements and Preparing Content for Digital Preservation
- Interfaces for Digital Preservation Services
Version Levels
The specifications are versioned using three levels. The first number denotes the major version. A new major version has a significant impact on the partner organizations who follow the specifications, and the changes are not backwards compatible. The middle number may have an impact on partner organizations, but the changes are backwards compatible. The third number denotes smaller changes, such as fixing spelling errors or adding new examples to the text.
